Storms Bring Heavy Rain

Thunderstorms rumbled across Sarnia-Lambton Saturday in advance of a strong cold front.

Heavy rain was the main feature along with some wind gusts and intense lightning.

There was heavy ponding on some city streets and a few power outages.

Bluewater Power was working to restore service in the Isabell St., Carr St., Murphy Rd. and Willa Ave. areas Saturday afternoon.

Hydro One reported small outages in the Forest and Watford areas.

Severe thunderstorm warnings for west and east Lambton County ended before 3pm.

After a warm start to the day, the temperature dropped from 27 C (81 F) to around 14 C (57 F) with the passage of the storms.

With the arrival of the cold front, a high of only 10 C (50 F) is forecast in Sarnia-Lambton Sunday.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
