Sarnia Family Survives Nepal Quake

A Sarnia family is happy to be home following a terrifying experience in Nepal.

Miriam Carmody and her family had just arrived in Nepal the day before a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that has claimed almost 6,200 lives.

She says they had a tour planned for that day around the city of Kathmandu and were inside a palace at the time of the quake.

Miriam along with her husband and two daughters escaped with their tour guide over the railing before part of the structure began to collapse.

They were told to run towards the centre of the courtyard, away from the buildings.
