Border Patrol Agent Rescued From River

A U.S. Border Patrol agent was rescued from the St. Clair River early Wednesday morning after his vehicle crashed into the water at Algonac, Michigan.

In a statement released to BlackburnNews.com, border patrol says the agent was responding to another agency's request for assistance when the crash occurred.

The vehicle became submerged in the river but the agent was able to escape and swim to the seawall where he was rescued by Clay Township firefighters. The department's fire boat responded around 5:15am.

The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office Dive Team was called to try to recover the vehicle.

The agent was treated at hospital and released.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
