Veteran Catholic Trustee To Be Replaced

The St. Clair Catholic District School Board is moving to replace a veteran trustee re-elected just last fall.

Director of Education Dan Parr says the board has received notice from the city clerk to fill the vacated Sarnia-Point Edward seat previously held by Michelle Parks.

Parks, an eight-year trustee, who led the polls in the October 27 municipal election, is losing her seat after failing to submit her campaign financial statement by the March 27 deadline.

Parks said she had no contributions or expenses and was under the impression a call to the clerk's office last fall was sufficient.

Parr says at its meeting later this month, the board is required to declare the seat vacant and begin the process of choosing a replacement. He says the board's policy is to advertise for applicants from the public at large. Eligible candidates will be interviewed at a public meeting after which trustees will vote in open session to choose Parks' successor.

Parr hopes the new trustee will be selected by the end of June.
