Special Weather Statement Ended

Environment Canada says very strong winds and potentially heavy thunderstorms were forecast Monday afternoon as a sharp and fast moving cold front moved across the region.

A special weather statement for Sarnia-Lambton ended in the late afternoon without any damaging winds and heavy rain.

The front raced across southwestern Ontario Monday afternoon and was to reach the Golden Horseshoe area including Toronto by evening.

Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says wind gusts of 80 to 85 km/h and maybe even 90 km/h were possible.
