Dangerous Wind Chills

It is dangerously cold outside.

An extreme cold warning remains posted by Environment Canada.

Wind chills are more severe than last weekend.

Sarnia-Lambton's forecast calls for a wind chill of -38 C Thursday night and -39 C (-38 F) Friday.

Cold arctic air and gusty northwest winds are creating dangerous wind chill values that will slowly improve Friday afternoon.

Lambton Public Health's Paul Buttery says people outdoors should exercise caution and dress appropriately as frostbite on exposed skin is possible in as little as ten minutes.

Lambton Public Health has a cold weather alert in effect in addition to Environment Canada's extreme cold warning.

Northwest winds off Lake Huron were producing flurries and local blowing snow in snow belt areas again Thursday.

Parts of neighbouring Huron and Middlesex counties as well as north and east Lambton County have been impacted at times reducing visibility.

Police urge motorists to adjust their driving to changing conditions.

The MTO reported late Thursday morning that Hwy. 402 from Sarnia to London was generally bare and wet with snow covered and partly ice covered sections.
