Preliminary Report On Michigan Plane Crash

The United States National Transportation Safety Board has released a preliminary report on a plane crash Christmas Eve that killed a 52-year-old Watford man.

The report does not list what caused the crash at 12:54pm that killed the planes pilot and lone occupant Lawrence Zavitz.

However, it states that the twin-engine piper Seneca plane struck trees and terrain when it missed its approach to runway 4 at Michigan's St Clair County International Airport in Pt. Huron.

The report says the aircraft was destroyed.

There was dense fog at the time.

The downed plane was later located around 5:30pm in a field and wooded area behind a residence in the 500-block of Allen Rd., about a mile west of Marysville.

The National Transportation Safety Board says the flight was registered as a business flight.
