A significant break, enter and theft at a home in the 200 block of Maria St. in central Sarnia.
Police say it occurred sometime between 7:50 and 11am Monday.
Constable Les Jones says a t.v., laptop, and a pink safe weighing several hundred pounds were taken.
Inside the safe was a large sum of cash saved for Christmas, a collection of paper currency, silver coins and bars, an 1871 Dutch coin on a chain, a gold pocket watch and personal documents.
Jones says the safe also contained war medals and diaries belonging to a deceased family member and war memorabilia.
