High-Speed Rail Advancing

Sarnia Mayor Mike Bradley welcomes high-speed rail in the province, but says the immediate need is to improve conventional service in this area.

High-speed rail connecting Windsor, London, Kitchener-Waterloo, and Toronto is part of the Ontario government's $29-billion transit and infrastructure plan.

The province announced today it's moving ahead with an environmental assessment which looks at routes, technology options, and environmental impacts.

Bradley says Sarnia could be included in future plans depending on infrastructure on both sides of the border.

Bradley says the opportunity for high speed rail to succeed is limited and upgrades to current infrastructure can be completed in the short term.
