Ershigs Closing Sarnia Plant

A company specializing in fibreglass piping and plastics is moving out of Sarnia after eight years in operation.

Ershigs Inc. has occupied a 55,000 sq. ft. building in the Vidal St. Industrial Park since 2010 after undergoing expansion and moving from a smaller space on Williams Dr.

Industrial Park Owner Jon McEachran says it's disappointing to lose a valuable tenant.

He says the decision is economic with work for coal fired power plants in Canada and the U.S. being cut back.

Ershigs will move out of Sarnia in January and consolidate operations with a plant near Toronto. Some 36 full-time employees are impacted by the closure.

McEachran says his focus now is to fill the space left vacant by the move.
