Cull Drain Bridge Removal Update

Erosion and high water levels have impacted removal of the Cull Drain Bridge.

Mayor Mike Bradley says it has been a difficult project for city staff and the contractor, Cope Construction.

So far the bridge deck has been removed.

Sarnia Council voted unanimously in September to salvage the trusses of the historic span during its removal, which will be relocated to Mike Weir Park to possibly be preserved in the future.

The structure on Old Lakeshore Rd. is being removed for safety reasons after an engineers inspection report recommended immediate action, saying the bridge was in danger of collapse.
