GoFundMe established for Wiarton woman critically injured while cycling

A GoFundMe campaign has been established for a Wiarton woman who suffered serious injuries when she was hit by a vehicle while cycling.

On July 6, Heidi Smith-Tones of Wiarton was airlifted to Toronto after being hit by a vehicle on her bike while travelling down Grey Road 1. She remains in critical condition in the hospital.

Her husband and children, who are travelling consistently to be with Heidi in the hospital, have now had a GoFundMe page set up to help the family cover the mounting costs of parking, food, travel, and lost income during what could be a long recovery for Heidi.

The fundraiser was launched by Christine Arezzi. The goal is to raise $140,000 and as of Friday, July 10, nearly $60,000 had already been raised.
