One dead after crash on Milverton Snowmobile Club trail

For the second time in recent days, police are reporting a fatal snowmobile crash in midwestern Ontario.

According to the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police, a 19-year-old died in a crash on the Milverton Snowmobile Club trail near Perth Line 72. Police say it happened just after 11 p.m. on Monday, February 9.

Police have confirmed that the snowmobile crashed into a tree, and the lone rider suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The identity of the deceased was not released by police. The trail was closed for several hours as police investigated.

All police and emergency services resources have been cleared from the trail, which is now open. Police say the investigation into the crash is ongoing.

The tragedy follows a collision northwest of Chesley last Thursday that claimed the life of a 56-year-old man.
