A significant winter storm is expected to create some hazardous driving conditions in midwestern Ontario.
Environment Canada is predicting upwards of 30 to 50 centimetres of snow between Thursday and Saturday, along with poor visibility and blowing snow
Grey Bruce OPP are advising people to avoid unnecessary travel if conditions significantly deteriorate and plan ahead if they must make an essential trip.
"These conditions will create dangerous driving situations, including reduced visibility and rapidly changing road conditions," OPP warned in a statement. "Abide by all road closures and detours. They are in place for your safety and the safety of others."
Drivers should bring along an emergency kit including blankets, food, water, and a fully charged phone in case of delays or emergencies. Also, ensure vehicles are winter-ready with proper tires, sufficient fuel, and working lights.
Motorists are reminded to turn on their full headlight systems during snowfall and top up windshield washer fluid before hitting the road.
Make sure to clear vehicles of snow completely and prepare for slower-than-normal commutes.
