Police initiative leads to safer intersections in Perth County

A number of intersections that were deemed dangerous are now safer thanks to an OPP initiative in Perth County.

A media release from the OPP shares that police identified multiple intersections that had the highest rates of motor vehicle collisions in the county.

Police identified five intersections within Perth County that had 33 collisions over a two-year period. The educational initiative that followed was called "Look Twice, Save a Life" and was aimed at educating the public and taking enforcement action at the following stop sign controlled intersections:

-Main Street East and Davidson Avenue North in Listowel

-Perth Line 72 and Road 131 in Perth East

-Line 39 and Road 135 in Perth East

-Perth Line 20 and Road 164 in West Perth

-Cobble Hills Road and Highway 7 in Perth South

Police say that as a result of the enforcement actions taken, 21 Provincial Offence Notices were issued to drivers for intersection related offences during an educational initiative at these intersections from November through December of 2024.
