Bruce Power was on hand to help kick off the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo (IPM) in Lindsay.
The company is once again the platinum sponsor of the annual agricultural showcase, which will continue until October 5.
“Bruce County has deep agricultural roots, so we’re always proud to support the IPM as it celebrates rural life and the amazing people who make it great,” said Dwight Irwin, Bruce Power’s Manager of Community Relations. “As one of Ontario’s largest producers of clean energy, we’re helping to power Ontario forward while also ensuring we do our part to protect the environment for generations to come.”
The International Plowing Match and Rural Expo is a five-day celebration of agriculture and rural living. There are plowing competitions, a range of activities for people of all ages, numerous opportunities to learn about agriculture, live entertainment in multiple venues, and hundreds of vendors and exhibitors.
The 105-year-old event is put on by the Ontario Plowmen’s Association and a local committee, and the profits generated are donated to groups and organizations in the host communities.
The event is held in a different rural community every year and attracts more than 70,000 visitors from across Ontario, Canada and the United States.
