Missing kayaker found dead

A kayaker that went missing north of Grand Bend last week has been found dead.

Huron County OPP say the body of a 57-year-old man from London was located near St. Joseph beach today.

The man's kayak was spotted unoccupied on July 3, around 9:40 p.m. near Sunview Avenue in the Municipality of Bluewater.

The nearly week-long search included members of the Canadian Coast Guard, Huron Area Search and Rescue, and local police.

In a social media post, OPP extended their condolences to the man's family, as well as their thanks to all that helped with the search.
