Kincardine murals undergo refurbishment

Two Kincardine murals that are over 20 years old are undergoing refurbishment work this month.

The Municipality says both The Kincardine Harbour and Circa murals along Queen Street will undergo restoration work, which is expected to be completed before June 1.

The pair of murals were painted by artist Allen C. Hilgendorf in 2001. Local artist Lambertus De Graaf, friend of the late Hilgendorf, was once again tasked with refurbishment work. He previously restored the works in 2009 and 2014.

The sidewalk around the work area will be closed while the work is completed, but the public are welcome to come and watch the creativity in action.

The Municipality of Kincardine says it thanks to the building owners, Jenny and Dan Showalter, for their continued support in providing the canvas for the murals which celebrate Kincardine’s history.
