County honours past warden following news of her passing

Perth County is paying tribute to a past warden following the news of her passing.

In a media release issued on April 22, Perth County Warden Rhonda Ehgoetz expressed condolences to the family of former Warden and Perth County Council Member Barb MacLean.

MacLean began her political career as a councillor in Hibbert Township in 1992. She remained in that role through amalgamation to what is now known as the Hibbert Ward of the Municipality of West Perth.

In 2000, Bard was elected Deputy Mayor of West Perth, and then became Warden of Perth County from 2005 to 2006. She later returned to her role as councillor in Hibbert ward from 2006 to 2016.

MacLean served on many committees and boards during her career, including the South Hibbert Athletic Association, Seaforth Fire Committee, Property Standards Committee, and the Municipal Liaison Committee. She was Chair of the Operations Committee, South Hibbert Athletic Association, and Striking Committees.

Additionally, MacLean also was a member of the Women’s Institute, served on the board of the Mitchell and District Community Centre, and was the former Director with the Perth Farm Safety Association.

In honour of her life and public service to the County, the County Courthouse flag will be lowered until the day of the funeral.
