Arrest made after firearm threat in Owen Sound

An Owen Sound police officer managed to chase down and arrest a suspect who reportedly pointed a firearm at someone on March 10.

Police were told the incident occurred in the area of 13th Street West and 4th Avenue West Sunday, March 10, just before 7:00 p.m.

Officers arrived and gave chase after the suspect tried to flee on his decrepit mountain bike. The suspect abandoned the bike to jump over a series of tall wooden fences, so a veteran officer jumped on the bicycle and caught up with the suspect a few hundred feet away in the parking lot of a nearby apartment building.

Police found a realistic looking BB pistol and a hunting knife which police allege the suspect had previously used to threaten someone.

A 22- year-old suspect on bail for an assault charge, was additionally charged with Pointing a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Breach of a Release Order.
