Grey County Council has granted initial approval to the 2024 budget, revealing a 6.3 per cent increase amounting to $269 million.
For the average assessed single detached home in Grey County, this translates to a $69.28 rise in property taxes.
The budget allocates funds for substantial projects, such as the redevelopment of Rockwood Terrace, a $30 million investment in road construction, the establishment of a new EarlyON center in Hanover, and the initiation of plans for a new paramedic services base in Durham.
Approximately $438,000 in County funding will be withdrawn from the Grey Transit Route, potentially leading to reduced service levels.
The 2024 budget will undergo revisions to incorporate council-approved changes, with an official bylaw adoption scheduled for presentation on January 11, 2024.
