Bruce Power made a sizeable donation to the recent Hockey Fights Cancer night at an Owen Sound Attack game.
On October 28, Owen Sound hosted the Kitchener Rangers for the annual fundraiser, and Bruce Power representatives presented a $25,000 cheque to the Canadian Cancer Society at the game, which the Attack won 5-3.
Proceeds from the game all went towards research and cancer programs, including transportation and lodging services for local people living with cancer.
Bruce Power employee Todd Thompson was featured in a video played during the game, highlighting his battle with prostate cancer. Thompson holds an annual fundraiser that has raised nearly $75,000 for Movember over the past four years.
“This game was very special as it highlighted local survivors and honoured the ground- breaking research these sponsorship dollars support locally and nationwide,” said James Scongack, Bruce Power’s Chief Development Officer and Executive Vice-President of Operational Services, who dropped the ceremonial puck to start the game. Bruce Power is a world leader in the production of medical isotopes such as cobalt-60 and lutetium-177, which help people around the world in their fight against cancer.”
