More local emergency departments will experience temporary closures this week.
On Wednesday at 5 p.m., the Durham Hospital Emergency Department will close due to staffing issues, according to the South Bruce Grey Health Centre. It will re-open at 7 a.m. on Thursday, July 6.
Also, the Chesley Hospital Emergency Department will close at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, and re-open at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 10, with a full 24 hour closure on Friday, July 7. Chesley Hospital currently has no emergency department services on weekends.
Just before 7 p.m. Wednesday, Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance President and CEO Karl Ellis announced the emergency department in Wingham will close overnight Wednesday due to an act of vandalism.
Wingham and District Hospital's emergency room is scheduled to reopen at 7 a.m. on Thursday. Ellis said the closure will allow time to support the staff, and cleanup of the department, as well as the undertaking of temporary repairs.
The emergency department in Wingham will temporarily close again on Friday, July 7 at 5 p.m. due to staffing issues.
It will reopen at 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, before closing yet again at 5 p.m. on Monday, July 10. The department is scheduled to resume regular hours again at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11.
Ambulance by-pass has been undertaken to divert patients to the nearest open ED.
