No injuries in barn fires near Blyth

Two barns were lost but there were no injuries sustained after a fire near Blyth earlier this week.

North Huron Fire responded to a call around 2:30 p.m. on June 19 along Hullett McKillop Road. They were assisted by several other area fire departments, including Goderich and Brucefield.

North Huron Fire Chief Kent Readman says due to the conditions, there was an even larger response to Monday's call compared to the barn fire in Brussels on Tuesday.

"I think we had 21 or 22 apparatus at that one and probably even more firefighters to be honest, I think we had around 80 on scene," he says.

"They weren't as big as the one (on June 20) but with the way the wind was pushing it and with all the fuel load, we were worried about it getting into a third barn so we just brought in a lot of extra resources to help deal with that one."

No livestock was lost in this fire. The cause is still under investigation.
