Lamont Sports Park exceeds fundraising goal

The Lamont Sports Park “Illuminating Dreams Fundraising Campaign” has come to an end, and the committee presented its final report to Saugeen Shores Council.

Mayor, Luke Charbonneau, says they exceeded their goal for Phase 2.

“They were originally tasked with raising $1 million dollars, which was going to match the Town’s contribution of $1.25 million. But they’ve far exceeded that goal. In fact, they’ve raised $1.7 million, with the potential of that number going up a little bit more,” said Charbonneau.

“Over the decades, there’s been lots of fundraising missions for different rec facilities. This is easily the most money ever raised, by a long shot, for a rec centre in our town. It demonstrates the overwhelming prosperity in our community and the success of our community,” he added.

Phase 1 of Lamont Sports Park is officially set to open in May of 2023. The Town will soon be approving the design for Phase 2, with construction planned for the summer of 2023, with the opening set for early 2025.
