Saugeen First Nation says it has received confirmation from the Ontario Provincial Police that there is a "bad shipment" of the illicit drug Fentanyl that has arrived in the community.
In a release to SFN Membership, the band's administration department says the Saugeen First Nation Fire Department has responded to two overdose calls over the past several days, and that there has been several more apparent overdoses where people did not contact emergency services.
They're asking the community to be careful, to help those in need, be safe, and remember that immediate actions can save a person's life.
Naloxone kits are available at locations around the nation, including the Wellness Centre on Village Road and the SFN Fire Hall, that can be taken home for emergency purposes, as well as any band-operated buildings during hours of operation in an emergency.
If you know or are aware of anyone suffering from an overdose of an illegal substance, you should contact 9-1-1 immediately.
