Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce will have some help trucking things around.
Bruce Power has donated a 2012 Dodge Ram to pull a safety equipment trailer and haul material to build sites in the two counties.
Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce recently completed Canada’s first Habitat build on a First Nation, when it handed the keys of a new home to Donna Akiwenzie, a resident of the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation at Neyaashiinigmiing.
Bruce Power was a major sponsor of that build project, and has supported Habitat with monetary donations and in-kind donations for years.
Greg Fryer, executive director of Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce, says the truck donation is part of Bruce Power’s involvement in the group’s next project at Neyaashiinigmiing.
“Our upcoming affordable housing development at Neyaashiinigmiing is our most ambitious project to date,” Fryer says. “Having a reliable truck is vital to our operations, so Bruce Power’s donation fills a big need that will help us serve Grey/Bruce families.”
Habitat is planning a ten-unit housing development for the people of the community.
