Good Samaritan In Owen Sound Returns Woman's Cash

A Good Samaritan has returned a significant amount of cash to an Owen Sound woman, who had left it at an ATM machine.

The woman had stopped at an ATM Tuesday afternoon to withdraw money, but forgot it in the slot. When she returned a short time later, the money was gone.  The woman reported the theft to police.

In the meantime, a 40-year-old Owen Sound man discovered the cash in the dispensing tray at the ATM. He could not find the person who withdrew the money, so he took the cash home and started checking social media for someone who might have posted about the loss.

He eventually located an Owen Sound Police Service news release and called police to arrange a time to return the money.  The cash was turned over to the rightful owner at the police station.
