Saugeen Conservation is getting ready for the official opening of a new boardwalk at the Greenock Swamp.
A unique floating boardwalk has been constructed over the bog habitat within Schmidt Lake. It's a Class 1 wetland, and is described as Southern Ontario's single largest forested wetland.
The official opening of this new project will take place Friday, from 1pm to 3pm.
Information and displays will be available on the natural significance of the Swamp as well as its history.
Directional signs to guide visitors to the location will begin at the Chepstow Inn in Chepstow.
The chair of Saugeen Conservation, Luke Charbonneau, stated in a news release, "The floating system allows visitors access to this incredible wetland while ensuring that the habitat is still protected."
