Brussels native Ty Sebastian is helping the Canadian Men's Softball team compete at The World Games being held in China.
Sebastian has represented Canada on the world stage in softball many times, most recently at the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup Finals in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, where Canada placed fifth. He was also on the roster that captured silver at the 2022 Men's Finals.
Men’s softball has returned to The World Games for the first time since 1981.
The competition is being held August 6-10, with eight teams competing in two pools. Group A includes top-ranked Japan, number two Venezuela, third-ranked Argentina, and ninth-ranked Czechia.
The Canadian team, ranked sixth, is in Group B with number four Australia, the United States, ranked seventh, and Singapore, ranked eleventh.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the crossover semi-finals, with the winner of the two semi-finals advancing to the gold medal game and the losing teams squaring off for bronze.
