Attack beat Sarnia in Friday night contest

A strong second period helped the Owen Sound Attack beat the Sarnia Sting.

The two teams played each other Friday in Sarnia with Owen Sound winning 5-3.

Neither team were able to score in the first 17 minutes of the game, however, the first period saw three goals.

Opening the scoring was the Attack’s Masen Wray, his seventh of the year.

Sarnia would get the next two goals. The first came from Jack O’Brien and the second from Alessandro Di Iorio. O’Brien’s second goal was assisted by Liam Beamish and Ryan Brown, while getting the helpers on Di Iorio’s were Easton Wainwright and goalie Nick Surzycia.

The second period saw three goals from the Attack.

Landen Hookey tied the game with his 16th goal with Tristan Delisle getting the only assist. Wray would get his second of the game shortly after with Delisle and Hookey assisting. Capping the scoring in the period was Rafik Varosyan who scored his 4th goal from Declan Waddick and Easton Mikus.

Sarnia would get within one in the third period thanks to a goal from Brown. Grabbing the assists on his 12th goal were Lukas Fischer and Zach Filak.

Ben Cormier ended the scoring with an empty-netter for the Attack, his ninth goal of the season.

With the win, Owen Sound sees its record improve to 12-22-2-3, while Sarnia moves to 14-20-2-5.

The Attack's next game is on Saturday, January 11, at home against the London Knights.
