The PJHL Pollock Division Final is set and will pit the Hanover Barons against the Mitchell Hawks.
Hanover swept its semi-final against Wingham with a 4-1 win last night.
The Barons scored twice in a 42 second span in the first five minutes of the second period to jump into the lead. Trent Verbeek and Carter Moran were the goal scorers.
Hanover would add a third goal at the 6:27 mark courtesy of Bryan Richardson.
Wingham defenceman Coleson Fischer got the Ironmen on the board with a power play goal at 13:48.
In the third, Barons' rookie Alex McGillivary scored Hanover's fourth goal that sealed the win.
The last time the Hanover Barons made a finals appearance was in 2010 under the former Western Junior C banner. They also made the 2009 final, losing to Walkerton in both series.
In Mount Forest, the Mitchell Hawks beat Mount Forest 1-0 to sweep their series.
The only goal came off the stick of Mark Cassidy early in the second period. And Hawks' goalie Tyler Parr stopped 28 shots for the shut out.
The Mitchell Hawks last made the finals, again under the former Western Junior C banner, in 2011 and 2012. And in both cases, lost to Walkerton.
For Mount Forest, it snaps a run of three consecutive Pollock Division titles stretching from 2017 to 2019. The 2020 final was wiped out by the pandemic and there was no 2020-21 season.
The schedule for the final between Hanover and Mitchell has yet to be set.
