The Mitchell Hawks broke things wide open in the second period of Game 3 of the Pollock Division Semi-Finals.
And with the 7-2 win over Mount Forest, now have a 3-0 series lead.
After Evan Dowd scored with just 14 seconds left in the first period, Mitchell scored three goals on special teams in the second.
Caleb Musselman scored on the power play at 5:13 of the second period. That was followed up by a shorthanded goal scored by Evan Dowd at 9:59. Then Nolan Gagnier scored Mitchell's second power play goal at 18:10.
In the third, Mitchell would score two more times before Mount Forest's forward Benjamin Tenhag scored the Patriots' first goal of the night. They would add another later in the period.
Meanwhile Evan Dowd was able to notch a hat trick, scoring at 11:28 of the third .
Mitchell goaltender Tyler Parr stopped 41 shots.
Game 4 of the series is Wednesday night in Mount Forest at 8:30 p.m.
The Hanover-Wingham series also continues Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. in Wingham. Hanover has a 3-0 lead in that Best of 7 series.

In the Yeck Division, Exter beat Thamesford 2-0 to go up 2-1 in that series.
The Hawks' Nik Caetano scored the first goal of the game with just under a minute to play in the second period. Jaeden French added an empty net goal late in the third.
The third game followed the trend of the first two games which were also close. A 4-3 win in Game 1 for Exeter and a 3-1 win for Thamesford in Game 2.
Game 4 is in Thamesford Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
