Mitchell advances, Kincardine ties up series

The Mitchell Hawks are the first team through the first round of the PJHL Pollock Division quarter-finals after a 4-1 win over Goderich.

That gives Mitchell the series sweep.

The Hawks got on the board first in Game 4 with a couple of power play goals. Malcolm McLeod scored at the 15:50 mark and Braeden Burdett scored at 18:01.

Mitchell would take a 3-0 lead in the second on a goal from Tyson Hall.

Tyson Rintoul got Goderich on the board midway through the third. But seconds later, Burdett scored his second of the game to make it 4-1.

Mitchell wins the series four straight and will now wait for the other two series to finish before the next round.

The Kincardine Bulldogs rebounded from Sunday's overtime loss and picked up their second overtime win of the series, 3-2 over Wingham.

Liam Colhoun scored at the 8:40 mark of the extra period.

Gavin Downs and Jordan Beisel also scored for Kincardine. For Wingham, Brandon Stewart and Josh Lorenz were the goal scorers.

Shots were close with Wingham having the 34-31 advantage.

Out of the four games in the series, three have gone into overtime.

With the series tied at two, Game 5 is scheduled for Friday at 8:30 p.m. in Kincardine and will be featured on CKNX.

The Mount Forest Patriots have a 3-0 series lead over the Walkerton Hawks after a 3-2 win in Game 3.

Walkerton opened up the scoring at 17 seconds of the first period courtesy of Brayden Fischer. But Mount Forest eventually scored twice in quick succession. Christopher Prucha at 10:48 and Mark Aljoe at 11:33.

The teams would exchange goals in the second period and there was no scoring in the third.

Game 4 is in Walkerton on Friday at 8:30 p.m.
