Ironmen even series, Mitchell close to advancing

The Wingham Ironmen bounced back after an overtime loss last Friday to win Game 2 of their playoff series against Kincardine 2-1.

While the score was the same as Game 1, the score sheet tells a different story.

The first game of the series saw Wingham outshoot Kincardine 50-45. This time the shots were just 19-15, but again in favour of Wingham.

Rookie Nate Bloemberg got the Ironmen on the board at the 1:54 into the second period.

That would be it for the scoring until the 12:22 mark of the third when Bulldog forward Jeff Fritzley tied it at one. Wingham would take the lead just under three minutes later on a goal by Evan Visser.

Ironmen goalie Devon Carson made 14 saves while Bulldog netminder Joshua Jacklin made 17 saves.

The series is now tied at one.

Game 2 was supposed to be played on Saturday night but was postponed due to weather. With that game played Sunday night instead, it's altered the rest of the schedule.

The rest of the series scheduled is as follows: Tue. Mar 15, 2022 - 7:30PM | WIN @ KIN Wed. Mar 16, 2022 - 8:30PM | KIN @ WIN Fri. Mar 18, 2022 - 8:30PM | WIN @ KIN Sat. Mar 19, 2022 - 8:00PM* | KIN @ WIN Sun. Mar 20, 2022 - 4:00PM* | WIN @ KIN *if needed
