Local athlete a co-recipient of Softball Canada award

A local athlete will be one of two recipients of a prestigious award from Softball Canada.

Williamsford, Ontario native Owen Torrie will join B.C. Native Julia Burka as co-recipients of the Claude Deschamps Memorial Fund.

A member of the 2018 Junior Men’s National Team, Torrie was part of Canada’s pitching staff at the WBSC Junior Men’s Softball World Championship in Prince Albert. In 2019, he played for both the Shallow Lake Sting (U19) and Owen Sound Selects (U23), capturing a gold medal at the U19 Men’s Canadian Championship and earning the Top Player of the Championship Round.

Torrie began a two-year Powerline Technician program at Conestoga College this fall.
