With the Stanley Cup poised to make an appearance in Seaforth and Goderich later this month, Ryan O'Reilly is still trying to absorb the big win.
He's also trying to relax a bit after a physically challenging season.
"Right now I'm really trying to enjoy it. I think I played 108 games last year and it's a lot," said O'Reilly. "And I'm just trying to mentally get away from it and you already start to think how you're going to ramp it up again."
But he's excited to bring the cup home to Huron County.
"It's going to be an exciting day. I can't wait to see everyone back there, all the people who really helped me achieve my dream," said O'Reilly. "We want it in Seaforth, that's where I fell in love with the game, and Goderich is where I spend a lot of my time training."
Looking back at the grueling playoff run, O'Reilly says there were players that continuously challenged him including the series against Dallas.
"I thought (Tyler) Seguin, against Dallas, kind of had my number in the face-off circle. He was playing really well, he had an outstanding series."
O'Reilly also was named the Conn Smythe winner after recording a St. Louis Blues franchise-record 23 playoff points and was named the Frank J. Selke Trophy award winner this past season.
The Stanley Cup arrives in Seaforth and Goderich on July 25th.
