Lincolns struggles continue

The St. Marys Lincolns find themselves seven points out of a playoff spot in the GOJHL Western Conference following a 2-1 overtime loss to Sarnia Thursday night.

Sarnia carried a 1-0 lead into the second period but St. Marys was able to tie it with a goal from Carson McMillan from Carter Schoonderwoerd and Joe Mazur. It would stay tied at one and in overtime, Sarnia scored 37 sec into the extra frame for the win.

Sarnia outshot St. Marys 48-23 and both teams were 0-4 on the power play.

The Lincolns are chasing St. Thomas for eighth place in the the conference and are in danger of missing the playoffs for the second consecutive season.

Their 23 points, while at the bottom in the west, would put them sixth in the Golden Horseshoe Conference and in a tie for seventh in the Midwest.

St. Marys does have 12 rookies on their roster this season and will have a good chance to make up some ground on February 1st when they host St. Thomas.
