Walkerton wins on the road, Kincardine and Mount Forest hold

The Walkerton Hawks pumped 55 shots on net and came out of Mitchell with a 6-3 win Saturday night.

Mitchell jumped out to a 2-1 lead after the first period but Walkerton scored three unanswered goals in the second period. Two off the stick of Gary Mantz and a power play goal by Justin Donnelly.

Matthew Donnelly picked up the win in the Walkerton net stopping 34 shots while Mitchell goalie Ryan Govier was busy all night long facing 55 shots.

The win keeps Walkerton just two points back of Mitchell for the 5th spot in the North Pollock Division.

The Kincardine Bulldogs went 2-for-8 on the power play as Brent West notched both of those goals in the second period for 2-1 Kincardine win over Hanover.

The Barons could not get their power play going and were 0-for-6 with the man advantage.

Joshua Traynor sealed it for the Bulldogs with an empty net goal late in the third period.

Craig Luinstra made 23 saves for the win. Luke Aulthouse stopped 34 of 36 shots in Hanover's crease.

Kincardine's win puts them 12 points ahead of Hanover for third in the division with three weekends left in the regular season.

The Goderich Flyers pushed Mount Forest but the Patriots were able to escape with a 5-3 win.

Flyers' forward Chad Treble scored with just under three minutes to play in the third period to make it 4-3 but Patriots' forward Michael Stefanelli scored on the empty net with just over a minute to play to seal it.

Kevin Linker kept his Goderich team in the game, stopping 47 of 51 shots. Aidan Quish picked up the win for Mount Forest stopping 29 of 32.

The win keeps Mount Forest just two points back of Wingham for first. The Patriots have seven games remaining and Wingham has eight.

The Patriots and Ironmen meet twice on the last weekend of the season, January 25th in Mount Forest and January 27th in Wingham.

The game on January 25th will be featured on CKNX's Cherrey Buslines OHA Hockey.
