WOAA awards and executive

A couple from Pinkerton in Bruce County are this year's WOAA Mike Weichel (WHY-cull) Honour Award recipients for their work in minor softball.

Dave and Marg Bradley were presented with the award this week. Dave Bradley started a PWSA team in Chepstow in the late '80s and has served on various WOAA committees through the years.

Wingham's Gayle Irvine (UR-vine) received the David H. Jacobi (JAH-coe-bee) Memorial President's Award for her years of involvement with Wingham Minor Ball and as a WOAA Softball Convenor.

Brett MacLeod from Listowel was the Bursary Award winner.

The awards were presented at the annual general meeting.

This week, the WOAA also lined up its executive: Allan Dickson from Wingham was acclaimed President. 1st Vice-President is Dave Garinger from Owen Sound. 2nd Vice-President is Len Perdue from Saugeen Shores.

The Elected Board of Directors are; Grant Currie, Wingham; Don Shropshall, Clinton; Don Tremble, Durham and Mike Mulvey, Wingham.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
