Elmira Falls Short In Come Back Attempt

The Elmira Sugar Kings lost 7-6 in double overtime to Caledonia and trail 2-0 in the Sutherland Cup semi-final.

Caledonia had a 5-2 early in the second period when Elmira started to press. Ethan Skinner and Ty Biles scored on the power play before the period ended to pull the team to within a goal.

Then in the third, Elmira's Mason McMahon scored 24 sec into the period to tie the game. Zack Cameron then scored on the power play later in the period to give Elmira the 6-5 lead.

But the seesaw game did not end there as Caledonia would tie it up with just over three minutes left in the period.

The game would go into double overtime and Owen Lane would scored the winner for the Corvairs.

Both teams had 52 shots on net.

Rhett Kimmel went the distance in net for Elmira.

Game 3 is in Caledonia Saturday night.
