Siskins Stifle Cyclones Offence

The Waterloo Siskins turned the table on the Listowel Cyclones in Game 2 of the GOJHL semi-finals.

After being shut out in Game 1, Waterloo returned home and showed more jump than the visiting team and scored timely goals in a 3-2 win.

Listowel had a couple of early chances as Brady Anderson was sprung on two short handed breakaways. But Waterloo goalie Brett Miller stopped both chances. Once with the glove and once with the left pad as Anderson tried to deke.

After a scoreless first Sam Spaedt scored on the power play 1:29 into the second period. Then Zach Leonard added a second goal with just under two minutes to play in the frame, beating Max Wright short side.

Listowel's offence sputtered through the first two periods, then started to rev up in the third but too late. Waterloo forward Drayton Duckett would score the all important third goal at 12:54 in the third to give the Siskins a nice cushion.

The Cyclones would score twice with the extra attacker with under a minute and a half to play in the third.

With the series tied at one, Game 3 is in Listowel Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
