Matt Schmalz scored the game winner in overtime to give the Owen Sound Attack a 4-3 win over Erie in Game 2 of the OHL Western Conference Final. The series is now tied 1-1.
Alex DeBrincat opened the scoring at 13:46 of the first period to put Erie up 1-0. Nick Suzuki answered for the Attack less than three minutes later. Dylan Strome scored for the Otters in the final 30 seconds of the frame to give Erie a 2-1 lead heading into the second.
Warren Foegele extended the Otters lead at 7:17 of the middle frame. Kevin Hancock put the Attack within a point at 15:06 and Maksim Susko scored the equalizer just over two minutes into the third.
Michael McNiven made 33 saves for the win. Joseph Murdaca stopped 33 shots for the Otters.
Game 3 is tomorrow night in Owen Sound at 7 p.m.
