Brock's Big Show, Lee Scores Winner

Of the 51 saves Brock Baier made in Listowel's 2-1 overtime win against Elmira, none was bigger than the one just before the winner was scored.

The Listowel Cyclones were on a power play in overtime when Elmira was able to force a turn over and gain the offensive zone. The Sugar Kings crashed the crease hard and after Baier made the first save, the rebound landed in a crowd of skates and it was chipped toward the net. The Listowel goalie had to reach back with his blocker hand and sweep it out of the air, making the save of the game.

On the ensuing rush Holdyn Lansink and Cullen Mercer led the charge with Jakob Lee streaking down the right wing. After receiving the pass Lee snapped a hard, low shot which squeezed through the pads of a challenging Jonathan Reinhart to end the game at 12:35 of overtime.

That was the only power play goal of the game as Listowel went 1-for-6 and Elmira was 0-for 6.

Holdyn Lansink opened the scoring in the second period burying a pass from Tommy Hoogars who had followed his own shot after it missed the net. It was Hoogars first shift after getting hit hard late in the first period. The hit drew a 5 min head checking penalty ending the night for Elmira forward Brock Phillips.

The Sugar Kings would tie it after winning a battle in the corner in the offensive zone. Zack Cameron walked out in front of the net, got a shot away and Jacob Black tucked home the second opportunity at the 5:07 mark.

That was all of the scoring until Lee's winner in overtime.

The Cyclones now have a 3-2 series lead in the Cherrey Cup with Game 6 in Elmira on Sunday at 7:00pm.
