Some Wins For Local Teams At Silver Sticks

The Hanover Falcon Atoms started their Silver Stick run in Forest with two wins on Friday.

Hanover beat Petrolia 8-2 and Penetang 7-0. The Falcons lead their "B" pool and play their final round robin game versus West Seneca at 8:00am Saturday.

In "C", TCDMHA bounced back with a 6-4 win over Deep River after a 5-4 loss to Lambton Shores. TCDMHA plays Freeport, NY at 9:10am.

In Bantam "C", Flesherton opened up their tournament with two wins, 1-0 over Lambton Shores and 5-0 over Geneva. Flesherton's final round robin game is against East Lambton at 1:05pm Saturday.

West Grey and Blyth-Brussels lost their opening games. The Warriors lost to the Southwest Bullets 4-2 while the Crusaders fell 5-1 to Mariposa. Both teams plays two games Saturday.

At the International Girls Silver Stick in Sarnia a number of teams are involved.

The Kincardine Kinucks earned a win and a tie on the first day Friday in Midget "BB".

In Midget "B", South Huron won two games while Mitchell lost twice.

In Peewee "B", Kincardine split its day winning one and losing one.

The tournament continues Saturday with playoffs on Sunday.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
