It's 13-straight wins and counting for the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks.
Saugeen Shores dominated the Shelburne Muskies on Friday night in Port Elgin, outshooting Shelburne 56-21 en route to a 7-2 victory.
Head Coach Jim Grieve says it was a physical battle with a young, hard-working team, adding it felt inevitable when the gloves dropped late in the game with the score out of hand.
Even with 13-straight wins and a four-point cushion for 1st-place in the WOAA Sr. Hockey League, Grieve says the powerplay still needs to come around for Saugeen Shores after going 0-for-5 on the night with the man advantage.
"Oh definitely, something different does have to happen, we've been working on different things but nothing seems to be clicking yet," says Grieve. "We'll just keep plugging away and one of these days [the puck] will start going in and then they won't stop going in."
The 13-1-0 Winterhawks will pick things up again next weekend with a pair of games, January 6th at home against the Lucknow Lancers, then a showdown with the 2nd place Mapleton-Minto 81's on January 7th in Port Elgin.
