The summer season of racing at Sauble Speedway will come to a close this weekend with the crowning of champions on Saturday night and one last big invitational on Sunday afternoon followed by a corn roast.
Saturday things kick off at 7pm with end of season championships on the line and again this year it is going to come down to that last race to see who will take home the hardware.
In the Junior Late Model class, 88 Tyson Schreinert from Ayton holds a 13 point lead over 25 Zenas Johnston from Wairton and a 22 point lead over 8 Kyle Parker from Hanover going into the final night.
In the Bone Stock class it’s 92 Kyle Newmister from Stratford holding a five point lead over 277 Ray Flynn from Clinton and seven points over number 1 Matt VanDyk from Annan.
In Four Cylinder it will be 17 Kevin Bridge from Kincardine going into the final night with a 13 point lead over 51 Craig Kamrath from Allenford and a 14 point lead over number 1 John VanDyk from Annan while 10 William Gibbons from Port Elgin sits just 19 points back.
Then it will be onto the two closest battles to watch, in Late Model the 10 of Tom Gibbons from Southampton leads by just three points over 37 Marvin Freiburger from Walkerton and only five points ahead of both the 2 of Tim Ellis from Kitchener and defending champion 17 Josh Stade from Chesley and just six points ahead of 26 Kevin Bridge from Kincardine.
So the top five drivers are just six points apart going into the final night which should make for a great finish to the season.
Then in Thunder Car it is defending champion 36 Ken Grubb from Walkerton with just an eight point lead over 16 Zake Casemore from Sauble Beach and with these two battling all season long you know it will come down to the last lap to decide this one.
On Sunday we close out the season with another invitational this time sponsored by Bester Forest Products Inc. from Walkerton followed by a corn roast hosted by the 37 Late Model team as they continue to raise funds for Easter Seals.
Racing Sunday kicks off at 2:30pm with Bone Stocks, Four Cylinders, Thunder Cars, Late Models and the Outlaw Midgets will also be part of the show.
