Bulldogs Run Into Alliston Wall

The Kincardine Bulldogs find themselves down three games to none in the Schmalz Cup Quarter-Finals.

The Alliston Hornets used a patient attack backed by stellar goaltending to win Game 3, 4-0.

The Bulldogs started with momentum and ended up on the power play 31 seconds into the first period. But they couldn't score. Alliston would score on a power play of their own with just over four minutes left in the first period. After a short handed rush by Kincardine, Alliston pushed the puck the other way and scored on a 5-on-2 rush. Alliston would score again just under two minutes later to take a two goal lead.

As in the the first two games, the Kincardine Bulldogs controlled the second period and out shot Alliston 12-7. But Kincardine was unable to beat Alliston goalie Tyler Brindle.

In the third period, Alliston scored for a third time as Alliston's captain Joe Cochrane out worked everyone else for the puck and lifted it top corner. Alliston would score their fourth goal of the game midway through the period to seal it.

The Bulldogs were 0-for-6 on the power play in the game.

Kincardine will try to avoid the sweep Wednesday with Game 4 in Alliston. You can listen to the game on CKNX or you can listen live at cknx.ca.
