Cyclones Hold On, Junior Hockey Wrap Up

GOJHL Listowel 2 Cambridge 1

The Listowel Cyclones were able to hold back at Cambridge power play at a key point in the game and skated off with their fourth win of the season.

After a scoreless first period, the Cyclones managed to crash the net in the second period and scored the opening goal of the game. Then, several minutes later winger Blake Nichol streaked down the left side and made a tape to tape pass to Caleb Warren who found Jordan Caskenette in the slot and the Cyclone forward picked the corner to give Listowel a 2-0 lead.

Cambridge got on the board just 22 seconds into the third period when Cole Cummings wired a shot wide of the Listowel net. But the puck bounced off the lively boards and went off the back of Listowel goalie Tyler Fassl and into the net. With the score now 2-1, Cambridge start to push.

At the 6:27 mark Listowel forward Tim Nauta was flagged for a high stick which ended up as 4 minutes for a double minor. The Cyclones were able to fend off the attack and held on for a 2-1 win.

Fassl stopped 27 shots for the win in the Cyclones crease.
