She shot a 1-under round of 71 to open play at Las Colinas on the Cactus Tour, a pro circuit for female golfers covering parts of the Western United States.
Schmidt birdied 3 holes with two bogeys to sit in a tie for 8th place at -1. Second round play goes tomorrow in Arizona.
